Girish Kanade from a small town recalls his passage with Soil

25/04, 23:04] Soil Girish Kanade (Jintur) Ref HM Latur:

I was introduced to Humanist Movement by Dr Rahul Yande of Beed in 1989.At that time I was studying in engineering at Solapur. I met Linesh Sheth when he used to specially visit small towns to propagate human values as a volunteer.

He was conducting a weekly meetings lasting one and half hour with some members. Linesh used to explain philosophy of The Movement about how we can change our neighbourhood to create positive environment.

I was very much excited and impressed with the thoughts and enthusiastic ways of explaining by Linesh. Later I did the same at Chembur in Mumbai where I had my job.

What i learnt from this environment in SOIL was the dignity of being a volunteer in life, moving from isolation of being an individual to move towards forming a community and teaching values of life.

I am today a changed man, more giving and more confident of myself. I am grateful to SOIL for a new way of living.
